I am such a sucker for homemade mixes of all kinds. I love that I can take ingredients that I already have in my pantry and make a mix for pennies that is sold in the store for dollars. It also saves me a trip to the store. All I have to do is have basic ingredients always on hand and I am ready to go at a moment’s notice.
A couple days ago I came across a Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix over at Tammy’s Recipes that I just had to try. Here is the recipe:
2 cups nonfat dry milk
1.5 granulated sugar*
1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1/2 cup dry non-dairy creamer
dash of salt
Combine all the ingredients in a tight container and give it a good shake. Store in the pantry.

To serve, just add 4 heaping tablespoons of mix with about 8 ounces of water (or milk if you want to be extra creamy). Adjust to your own taste.

*Tammy’s recipe calls for only 1 cup of sugar. Hubby and I like it a bit more sweet so we added the extra half cup.
